So much fun today!

So, my SIL, her kiddos and another friend went to one of those jump castle places today...talk about FUN! I didn't realize I could jump in there with my kids...I was bouncing L all over the place, and we had a major workout...E was "napping" (well, resisting sleep) the whole time, but she was still a good girl...and I can't believe my little L...she is 2.5 and was climbing up the giant 30ish foot slide all by herself! All in all, a very fun day, that we will definately be doing again!

Whew...

So I finally have a few minutes to update, LOL...I've been battling a tummy bug (uck) and LO has been teething like CRAZY! I got my Amber teething necklace in the mail (from Inspired by Finn) and it has been great! It's so beautiful and looks so cute on her! I'm going to test it for the next week and see how much of an improvement we see...(although I've already noticed a difference!) I'll have to post pics soon, as soon as I find out what L did with my camera...She's been into hiding stuff lately, (insert eye roll here)

And I have been pooped since Friday night...I went to a "Club Zumba" event with my momma...she is the Zumba Queen around here, haha...And let me tell you, that was FUN! And exhausting! If you are looking for a great way to work out (and I mean WORK out!) you should def. try Zumba! It's amazing and fun...I hate going to the gym, it's so boring and I have no motivation...but Zumba is a different story, it's like a fun dance class that totally kicks your booty!

Amber Teething Necklace

So E is finally getting some more teeth...and teething has to be the WORST thing in the world for mom and baby...I hate giving tylonol and I have been looking to find something a little more "green" to help out my poor baby...Enter Inspired by Finn at Hyena Cart http://hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn/ She makes the most amazing Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces I have found anywhere...I ordered one today and I am sooo excited for it to come! I hope it does the trick for E!

Here are some of the benefits of Baltic Amber taken from Inspired by Finn

Baltic amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin.
Historically, Baltic Amber has been used in Europe as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. Long ago it was considered one of the leading ‘medicines’ of its time. Baltic Amber is the most esteemed amber in the world, and the healing qualities of Baltic Amber make it unlike any other type of amber found in the world.
When baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber. These oils contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin.
Baltic Amber has some of the highest concentrations of Succinic Acid found in nature, and this is what makes it so special. Succinic Acid is a natural component of plant and animal tissues, and it's presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways.

How can baltic amber help us?
  • Pain Relief -
Baltic amber contains analgesic properties and helps take the edge off of many types of discomfort associated with dental issues, headaches, joint pain, etc.

  • Strengthens the body's immune system -
In many different and subtle ways, succinic acid helps boost the body's own natural healing ability and immune system.
  • Restoring Energy –
The human body naturally produces succinic acid. The salt of succinic acid (succinate) is one of the most active substances in the processes of cellular respiration and intercellular energy creation. Succinic acid restores oxygen and energy supply to depleted cells and helps the body return to a normal, functioning state.
Succinate is a raw material and a catalyst in the Krebs Cycle which is one of our main sources of energy. During the Krebs Cycle carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolized for energy.
  • Maintaining Wellness -

When the human body reacts to stress, the body’s cells begin to use oxygen more quickly. Oxygen plays a central role in the intercellular creation of energy, and a lack of oxygen can result in feeling lethargic.
Oxygen is alkaline-forming in the blood and maintaining a slightly alkaline blood ph helps keep us healthy. Whenever the body functions in a state of low oxygen, it is much more susceptible to illness.

  • To help break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation -
Where chronic inflammation is present, disease lurks.
When the body’s cells are chronically inflamed the human body’s immune system response is to increase production of free radicals. Chronic overproduction of free radicals results in inflammatory-related disease. Chronic inflammation is a common denominator of many seemingly unrelated diseases.
While wearing a piece or two of baltic amber jewelry may not cure all that may ail you, it has been a proven benefit to many!

Fun Recipes...

So I was facebooking it yesterday, and I happen to be a fan of My Baby's Green, LLC...awesome blog by the way...well she happened to have this up from http://www.healthychild.org/ and I thought it was AMAZING...my skin is so dry right now from the winter air (and I am, unfortunately, one of those pasty people who peel and flake) I tried this sugar scrub...mmm...my face feels so great...and it fits in with my principles as well, it's healthy, natural, and CHEAP! Most of these items are staples in my house, so I didn't have to spend any money...

1. Avocado mask. My kids think this is hilarious, but after you eat an avocado, rub the skin lightly against your face. Leave the leftover avocado bits on for skin for about ten minutes and then rinse.
2. Sugar scrub. A few years back, I used a sugar scrub at a friend’s house – it was amazing! But, when I found them in the store, I suffered a bit of sticker shock. It seemed like an easy enough product to make at home and it turns out it truly is. I found dozens of recipes on-line - the simplest is 1 cup sugar, ½ cup olive oil, and a few drops of essential oil (optional).
3. Regular rejuvenation. Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt, and ½ teaspoon of olive oil. Apply mixture to your face for 10 minutes and rinse. Weekly application rejuvenates the skin.
4. Hair care. Dry, damaged hair? Mix ¼ cup plain yogurt, ¼ cup mayonnaise, and 1 egg white. Apply to hair and comb through for even coverage. Leave for 30 minutes and then rinse.
5. Eye De-puffer. You’ve seen it before. It really works. Put a slice of chilled cucumber over your eyes for 10 minutes.
6. Detoxifying bath. Mix ¾ Epsom salts, ¼ cup baking soda, and a few drops of whatever essential oil you like (or none). Add to bath water and relax.
7. Under eye eraser. Apply thin slices of potato under your eyes for 10 minutes to fade dark circles. Great for sleep-deprived moms!
8. Lip gloss. Soften and condition your lips while adding shine by rubbing olive oil on them. Add a bit of beet juice for color if you’d like.
9. All over moisturizer. Olive oil with a few drops of essential oil. (These two ingredients, as you can tell by now, are the power players in your DIY spa kit.)
10. Coffee scrub. Another fantastic pick-me-up for tired out mamas. Make your morning cup of joe. Mix 3 Tablespoons of the used coffee grounds and 1 Tablespoon salt in a bowl. Use as a scrub in the shower within 20 minutes (before the grounds start to oxidize).
I love how easy all of these are, how most of the ingredients are staples in my kitchen, and the peace of mind that comes with pampering naturally.
How about you? Do you have and tips or recipes for DIY beauty treatments?

Whoo, I'm tired!

So last night was fun...E is teething right now, and was up at least once an hour...ugh...and the only thing that would make her calm down was holding her...I hate hearing her cry like that, but momma's got to sleep! Lol...And of course it took forever for L to go to sleep...she ACTUALLY took a nap yesterday (yay!) so she didn't want to go to bed...and then she wakes up at 7am...her new thing is to wake everybody up early "because the sun's awake"...apparantly you can't be sleeping if the sun's awake...she's so cute!

But on a brighter note, I used my first wool cover last night! (I got some wool shorties FFS from the SWEETEST BBC momma!) and I am hooked on some wool! It was sooo soft, and E has been fighting a lingering rash, so I figured the airing out couldn't hurt...I want some more wool now :) It is sooo absorbant...

Well, off to go shopping with my LOs! I'll be back later...

Reviews...

I would like to start doing product reviews on my blog, if you know anyone who would like to recieve a review, let me know!

Welcome to Technologyland

So, I have finally found the blog love in my life. I guess I needed it, I am a Stay At Home Mom to my 2 little "angels" L. and E....they are amazing and more than a little adventurous, so be prepared for many interesting updates...L. is 2 and a half, she is a wild little spitfire and quite bossy in a very cute way...E is 8 months old (already!) and she has been quite a handful...we have a FTT diagnosis for her since she is stubborn and doesn't like to eat...

And as you can tell, I am a cruncy mom. Yes, one of "those people"...dirty hippie, weirdo, etc...you think it, I've been called it...well, guess what? I am crazy and I love it...I cloth diaper my little bums, I don't CIO. I practice most forms of AP. I babywear. I make my own cleaning/beauty products. I use family cloth.

AND I LOVE IT. So there :)
